Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 July 2026
The short version: if you use the Local Studio, your photos and videos never leave your device. If you use the cloud editor, your media is stored encrypted in India (AWS Mumbai, ap-south-1) and you can delete everything — including your account — at any time. We never sell your data.
1. Who we are
ViralReels ("we", "us") is an AI-powered reel creation service available at viralreels.app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, where it lives, and the rights you have over it under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India) ("DPDP Act") and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR").
2. Local Studio — your media stays on your device
The Local Studio processes your photos, videos, and music entirely in your browser, on your device. Media selected in the Local Studio is never uploaded to our servers — analysis, beat detection, and rendering all happen locally. Files you work with may be cached in your browser's private storage on your own device; you can clear this at any time from your browser settings.
3. Cloud editor — what we store and where
When you use the cloud editor (signed-in dashboard), we store:
- Your uploaded media (photos, videos, audio) and the reels we generate from them — stored encrypted in Amazon S3 in the AWS Mumbai region (ap-south-1), so Indian users' media stays in India.
- Project data — titles, settings, clip analysis results, and job status needed to build your reels.
Your media is used only to create your reels. We do not use your photos or videos to train AI models, and we do not share them with third parties except the infrastructure providers that store and process them on our behalf.
4. Account data
When you create an account we collect:
- Name and email address (from the sign-up form or your Google account).
- A hashed password if you sign up with email — we can never read your password.
- Your subscription tier, usage counts (reels created, storage used), and payment status.
Payments are processed by Razorpay (INR) and Stripe (USD). Your card, UPI, and banking details go directly to those processors — we never see or store them.
5. Your rights (DPDP Act 2023 & GDPR)
- Access — you can request a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — you can ask us to fix inaccurate account information.
- Erasure — you can delete your account and all associated data at any time. Our account deletion endpoint permanently removes your media files from S3, your projects, your subscription records, and your user account in a single operation. This is irreversible.
- Grievance redressal — you may raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer (below) and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app account controls or email us at the address below. We respond within the timelines required by applicable law.
6. Music and audio
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any music or audio you upload or attach to your reels. We store uploaded audio the same way as your other media and delete it under the same rules.
7. What we never do
- We never sell your personal data or your media. To anyone. Ever.
- We never use your media to train AI models.
- We never read your private media except where strictly required to operate the service (e.g. automated processing pipelines) or where you explicitly ask us to (support).
8. Cookies and sessions
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in (session tokens). We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
9. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, all media and personal data are permanently deleted. Payment records may be retained where required by tax and accounting law.
